Gabby Otchere Darko, the cousin of President Nana Akufo-Addo has boldly said that he is against the anti-gay bill which has been presented to Parliament House.
The bill after it was presented by an eight-member team in Parliament on 29th June sparked massive debate in Ghana with many public figures hiding their true feelings about the bill but Gabby Otchere Darko has finally come out to reveal his true feelings about the bill.
In a tweet he noted that he is against the anti-LGBTQ+ bill and he is not shy about it.
”I am against the anti-gay bill & not shy to say so. I am a proud Ghanaian who cherishes all that is good about our value systems, including tolerance. And, I will defend the right of minorities everywhere. I have the courage and a sense of justice to disagree with the majority”, his tweet read.
The legal and Constitutional Committee of Parliament on Thursday began a public hearing for the bill.
Some Human Rights advocates since the bill was presented to Parliament has demanded that portions of the bill be struck out.
