The Karneshie District Court in Accra has adjourned the case involving the member of Parliament for Madina lawyer Fancis Xavier Sosu.
This comes after the prosecution told the court on 8th November that a letter has been sent too them from Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin indicating that the MP is on Parliamentary duties out of Ghana.
Sosu’s colleague, Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor had earlier disclosed that as of Saturday 6th November, the lawmaker was not in the country.
He debunked police claim that the embattled lawmaker had been served the criminal summons to appear before in court.
Reacting to police claims, Mr. Dafeamakpor who was speaking on the ‘Key Point’ show aired on TV3 said; “Sosu has not been served, he is not even available at the moment.
“I think that there will be an opportunity for Sosu to be served. But I heard something very interesting from ACP Kwesi Fori. He actually said to the whole country that they have issued a criminal summons and the Honorable Sosu has been duly served. That is a blatant falsehood.
“The Honorable Sosu as we speak is on Parliamentary duties outside of this country. He is likely to return tomorrow or Monday.”
Meanwhile the Director General, Public Affairs Directorate of the Police Service, ACP Kwasi Ofori stated on November 3rd that the MP had been duly served by the Police and was expected to appear in court.
