Police Officers To Patrol Accra-Tema Motorway To Enforce Aboboyaa Ban-Accra Regional Minister

The Accra Regional Minister, Henry Quarter has disclosed that police personnel have been deployed on the Tema Motorway to ensure that the tricycle ban on the motorway is fully enforced.

He noted that the duty of the team deployed is to ensure that the ban is in place and being fully abided by.

“We have put all the mechanisms in place and the logistics. The Ghana Police Regional Command has been given a brand-new Nissan pick-up so [today], we will put all the operational plans in place, and then they will start work on the Motorway 24/7. It is a law, and when people offend, it is the law enforcement agencies that need to deal with that. All the operations of the assembly will be assisted by the security agencies”, he revealed.

The Regional Minister had earlier announced that the ban on the ‘Aboboyaa’ will be effective on Monday 1st November 2021 but as at yesterday some tricycles were been seen on the motorway.

Some citizens have called on the Minister to reconsider his decision on the ban since the tricycles helped them in dumping their refuse.
