98 women have been appointed as judges in one of Egypt’s main judicial bodies, the state council states.
In an event in the Capital Cairo on Tuesday, 19th October 2021 the 98 judges were sworn before the council’s chief judge .
This comes after President Abdul Fattah al-Sis called on women in the country to join the two main judicial bodies in the country.
The State Council has been exclusively male dominated since its inception in 1946 with many women applicants facing constant rejection until now.
Women have argued over the years by opposing the council’s decision with claim that they have been discriminated against.
