Professor Charles Godfred Ackah has warned Ghana to be careful of the consequences its may face owing from the propose anti-gay bill that has been presented to Parliament.

According to Professor Charles, the country may lose foreign aid if it eventually criminalize activities of LGBTQ+.

Prof Ackah who spoke on Newsfile on Saturday, October 9, indicated that there are fears that the Western world may sanction the country in case passes the anti-gay bill into law which criminalizes the activities of LGBTQ+.

He assured the citizens that the country has enough resources to survive with and for that reason no one should be bothered about sanctions from the West.

“It comes with a cost; the health cost alone is dire. We don’t even have enough budget to fight HIV AIDS. This is going to increase HIV Aids. There is going to be public health challenge. We are not comprehensively insured,” he stated.

“When they want to do surgery or when they want to do hormone transfer; it’s paid for by the state. We don’t have that kind of thing here. 70% of all people who have AIDS in the US came from men marrying men or having sex,” Prof Ackah emphasized.
