UTAG Set To Resume Strike From October 8 Following Gov’t Failure To Address Concern

The University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) has asked its members to resume the strike which it called off weeks ago from 8th October 2021 until further notice.

The move to resume the suspended strike was as a result of government’s failure to meet lecturers demand on what they describe as poor conditions of services which they made known.

On 2nd August 2021, the University Teachers Association of Ghana embarked on a strike asking for their conditions of service to change for better.

Two weeks into the strike the government and UTAG arrived at an agreement where the teachers suspended the strike with the hope that after 30 days their concerns will be addressed.

After the mandatory 30 days UTAG has asked all its members to suspend all related teaching activities.

According to a circular signed by the President of UTAG Professor Solomon Nunoo despite UTAG making a number of concessions, government hasn’t shifted its position on addressing their concerns.
