Latest report picked up from the world of boxing indicates that the current Unified heavyweight champion, Oleksandr Usyk’s promoter has officially uncovered that a second battle between Usyk and Anthony Joshua will ‘certainly happen’ as the British-Nigerian fighter has activated his rematch proviso with the Ukrainian fighter.
Oleksandr Usyk, the previous cruiserweight champion, 34, brought the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday to a standstill to win the WBO, WBA, IBF and IBO world titles from Anthony Joshua.
The prevailing idea of Usyk’s triumph has left many fans and intellectuals unyielding that Joshua has minimal shot at recovering his belts from the Ukrainian yet that has not deflected Joshua, who has now enacted the rematch clause.
Should Usyk win again, he will hope to get the excess WBC belt in an undisputed standoff. The belt is right now in the hands of Tyson Fury, who battles Deontay Wilder for a third time frame on October 9, 2021.
Usyk’s promoter, Alex Krassyuk had this to say to Boxing Social;
”According to my understanding, he has already activated the rematch clause because the first thing he said when he came to our corner was ‘we will see again in the rematch’. So he didn’t even consider it as a possibilty, it was just a decision already.
I heard at the press conference Eddie Hearn and AJ himself were thinking about the rematch not just as a fact, but they were discussing the time when it is going to happen, what AJ has to change to win so I think it will happen. Only some extraordinary circumstances can change it but as of now, it will definitely happen.”
We can talk about the unification of all the belts only after Tyson Fury will have a boxing match against Deontay Wilder, and they determine the champion, and after our match with Anthony.”
