According to the All Progressive Congress (APC) should the former President of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan decide to join the party they will welcome him.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Wednesday 15th September, the spokesman of the APC Sen. John James Akpanudoedeher stated that the party’s structure will be strengthened if the former President defect to their camp.
He mentioned that for the first time he has heard news of the party expecting the former President.
“I am hearing that for the first time that we are expecting the former President. That will be great news. We will welcome him; that will also strengthen the party,” Akpanudoedehe said.
He neither confirmed no oppose a question he was asked as to whether the party will select Jonathan as its Presidential candidate should he defect.
“The last National Executive Council (NEC) of the party actually gave a blanket approval to any individual that if you join APC today, it is as if you are a founding member of the party.
“So, anyone who joins today has the same opportunity to run for any office in this party. It has always been so, so I am not speculating,” he said.
