E/R: Suspected Robber Shot Dead In Failed Robbery

A man believed to be a robber has been shot dead in a failed robbery attack on the Adonteng Rural Bank branch in Abomosu in the Eastern Region of Ghana.

The dead robber was part of a robbery gang that tried to rob the bank at 1:55 am on Friday 17th 2021.

The branch manager, Bernice Brago who spoke with the media said that the robbers upon arrival at the bank were armed and all wearing facemasks.

She went ahead to disclosed that the robbers exchanged gunshot with the private security with the bank who noticed their presence.

When police arrived at the scene after receiving info about the attempted robbery they found the robbers had broken part of the glass door and the window frame that leads to the banking hall.

Items found from the scene were one empty BB cartridge and a crowbar.

After combing the surrounding of the bank, police found the lifeless body of a 34-year-old man identified as Joseph Annor lying dead in a pool of blood in about 120 meters behind the bank while his itel mobile phone lay beside him.

According to the Deputy Public Relations Officer of the Eastern Regional Police Command, Francis Gomado, the crowbar and the itel mobile phone was taken by police as exhibit and the mortal remains has been deposited at the Kibi Government Hospital morgue.
