I Feel Disgusted Over Police Approach In Arresting Owusu Bempah-Maurice Ampaw

Famous Ghanaian private lawyer, Maurice Ampaw has expressed distaste towards the way and manner in which the Ghana Police arrested the founder of Glorious Word Power Ministries, Rev. Isaac Owusu Bempah.

On Sunday 12th September 2021, the Police arrested Rev. Owusu Bempah and three other suspects identified as Michael Boateng, Frederick Ohene, and Nathaniel Agyekum at the premises of Glorious Word Power Ministries.

.Despite arresting these four people the police say two more people are currently on the run.

Commenting on Owusu Bempah’s arrest, Maurice Ampaw has said that the police left its professionalism while arresting Owusu Bempah.

”I’m totally disgusted and annoyed with the Ghana Police over the way they conducted themselves in arresting Owusu Bempah. We are in this country and we have what we call protocols and there are certain people in society, we don’t arrest them; you give them an invitation.

If a judge is sitting on a case in court, you dare not arrest the judge: you write to the Chief Justice, you seek a guidance to invite the person. The same is with members of Parliament. You realized that Jesus Christ, when he was being attacked, Peter defended him. In the same way when a man of God is the leader of a Church and in the process of leading people and you go there and effect arrest? he questioned.

He noted that he isn’t saying that Owusu Bempah shouldn’t be arrested but he feels the manner in which he was arrested was too harsh.
