Monies Borrowed By Nana Addo’s Administration Has Been Consumed Rather Than Providing Infrastructure-John Mahama

The 2020 presidential candidate of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) John Mahama has accused the Nana Addo’s administration of consuming monies they borrow instead of provinding infrastructure.

According to the former President the Nana Addo’s government borrow money purposely for consumption instead of the infrastructure it needs to construct for Ghanaians.

”Looks like most of it has gone into consumption rather than into providing the kind of infrastructure that we need. Is only as an afterthought that suddenly realized we must be doing some infrastructure. So Agenda 111 has been conjured. There is no transparency in how the money is going to be procured. Is it going to be more borrowing when we already have such a high debt hanging around the country’s neck. These are all things that we could build a consensus around if they were ready to open up”, Mr. Mahama stated.

He noted that his successors criticized his administration of over borrowing but most of the money borrowed was tangible for people to see what it was used for.

”We were criticized by our successors as over-borrowing but a lot of what we borrowed for was tangible for people to be able to see. Several years later you are a witness to what has happened . From 120 billion cedis of total public debt to almost 400 billion cedis. What most Ghanaians ask is what have we done with this money? John Mahama quizzed.
