Police Arrest 35 Illegal Migrants In Nandom

Some illegal migrants have been arrested by the police in Nandom in the Upper West Region of Ghana.

According to a police statement, on Wednesday 17th August 2021, the Vigilante patrol team ceased thirty-five undocumented immigrants at the Nandom Hospital junction.

These thirty-five immigrants were said to have sneaked into Ghana through unapproved means and routes.

They seemed to be targeting Greater Accra Region, Kumasi and Suyani.

The illegal migrants include 11 Burkinabes, nineteen Malians, two Sierra Leoneans and three Guineans. Out of the total of thirty-five, 19 were males and 16 of them were females.

”Preliminary investigations revealed that their migration was for business, farming, education, and family visit purposes. They were screened by the Port Health authorities before being sent out of Ghana into Burkina Faso at the Hamile Boarder Post at 2130HRS.

As part of our mandate duty to combat illegal immigration to and from Ghana, and, stemmed with the Presidential directive on land borders closure, we urge the general public to collaborate with state security agencies to win the battle”, Inspector Ibn Yussif Duranah Abdul Mumin Seidu stated.
