I Empathize With Kwaku Agyemang Manu-Ken Ofori-Atta Reveals

The Minister of Finance Ken-Ofori Atta has said that he empathizes with the Health Minister Kwaku Agyemang Manu following calls from some Ghanaians especially minority in Parliament for him to be sacked.

According to Mr. Ofori-Atta, the Health Minister acted under pressure and it’s only fair that citizens appreciate his effort due to the circumstances that surrounded the procurement of the Sputnik V vaccines.

Speaking in an interview on Asaase Radio, Mr. Ofori-Atta says calls from Ghanaians on the removal of the Health Minister is an indication that they do not appreciate the decision he took in the interest.

He posited that the Mr. Agyemang Manu had no option at the time than to take the decision.

‘I’m empathizing and I expect others will realize the type of pressure that Mr. Agyemang Manu was under and his commitment to ensuring that the Ghanaian people are safe.

He expressed disappointment in Ghanaians for not empathizing with the Health Minister adding that it’s time for everyone to move on since the contract has been terminated by the middleman and the money paid will be refunded.

“The middlemen have said they can’t supply the vaccines; which means that they have broken the contract, and then we get our $2 million back, and then we move on. But to be so unsympathetic to somebody who felt that what can he do to ensure that there is continuity for Ghanaians, and now sit comfortably to chastise him without empathizing with him; I am empathetic of him”, he stated.
