Parliament Approves Agyebeng As Special Prosecutor

Kissi Agyebeng who was nominated by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo back in April 2021 has been approved by Parliament.

Following his vetting, Kissi Agyebeng was unanimously approved by the Appointment Committee to be Ghana’s second Special Prosecutor following Martin Amidu resignation.

Mr. Agyebeng who is a law lecturer and a private legal practitioner would have to be worn in by President Nana Addo to begin work.

Chairman of the Committee, Joe Osei Owusu stated during the submission of his report that; “the committee unanimously agreed to recommend him Kissi Agyebeng to the House for approval.”

Meanwhile on 22nd July 2021, Kissi Agyebeng told the Appointment Committee of Parliament that he will make corruption costly by making it a very high-risk activity.

According to him he is not naïve to believe that when giving the nod as a Special Prosecutor he can completely wipe off corruption.

”I am not naive to assume that I’m coming to stop corruption. There’s no way I can stop corruption. God himself will not acclaim to that but, I am going to make corruption very costly to engage in”, he said.
