The National Coordinator of the Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP), Dr. Mrs. Gertrude Quashigah, has hinted in statement that government of Ghana has approved payment of arrears for caterers under the School Feeding Programme.
Dr. Mrs. Getrude Quashigah says the payment will cover the 1st and 2nd term of the 2021 academic year.
According to a statement brought issued by the Public Relations Unit of the GSFP, GSFP debunked rumours that government is currently having eight months arrears towards the caterers of the feeding programme.
GSFP explained that the government has arrears only for the 1st term of the 2021 academic year, of which measures are being put in place to settle these arrears within the shortest possible time.
The statement further revealed that the contract between the government and the caterers is that the caterers are the ones meant to pre-finance cooking for maximum of one academic term. Then after the term was over they would receive payment for the arrears of the previous month before another term begins. Some caterers are however claiming that the government has arrears for eight months and has not shown any concern or action to settle them.
“However, we apologise to all caterers for the delay in the payment of their 1st term arrears and assure them that they will soon receive payment,” Dr. Mrs. Gertrude Quashigah said.
