Stop The ‘Funeral Campaigns’-Sammy Awuku Advises Party Supporters

The National Organizer of the New Patriotic Party, Sammy Awuku has advised the NPP’s Constituency Chairmen to desist form subtly campaigning for Presidential candidates hopeful at funerals.

According to him such steps by the Constituency Chairmen will go a long way to bring disunity in the party which wouldn’t make the party’s determination to break the 8-year-ruling cycle a reality.

He strongly believes the ruling New Patriotic Party has great opportunity to maintain power for more than 8 years if it maintains unity after its internal elections.

He made this comment while speaking at the inauguration of the party’s Constituency officers’ welfare which took place at Koforidua in the Eastern Region of Ghana on Saturday 17th July 2021.

” If we are not careful with the internal primaries and party discipline, we may end up breaking ourselves before breaking the 8. President Kuffuor’s statement still resonates in our ears, it is better to be a messenger in a party in government than to be a General Secretary for a party in opposition”, he stated.

Meanwhile there is a growing rumour that both the Vice President of Ghana, Dr. Muhamadu Bawumia and Trade Minister Alan Kyeremateng will contest internally as Presidential candidates hopfuls.
