Deputy Communications officer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Richard Asante Yeboah has said that the media angered Hon. Kennedy Agyapong that is how come he threatened the Multimedia journalist.
He believes filed misleading reports on the Ejura disturbance which occurred on 29th June 2021.
Speaking on the ‘Key Points’ aired on TV3, Mr. Asante said the misleading reportage by journalists in Ghana lead to the death of two people during the Ejura disturbance.
After colleague MP Hon. Suhuyini alerted the House on Mr. Agyapong’s threat against a journalist and requested that he is referred to the Privileges Committee, the speaker of Parliament, Hon. Alban Bagbin granted his request.
The speaker stated that the decision on whether Kennedy Agyapong abused the privileges doesn’t rest with him but the House.
”That will be your collective wisdom that come to conclusion whether what is alleged is just a mere allegation or is supported by facts and whether those facts constitute contempt of the House and abuse of a privilege of members”, the speaker stated.
Reacting to his referral to the Privileges Committee on Oman FM, Mr. Agyapong descended on Mr. Suhuyini and used unprintable words to describe his colleague.
”I want to insult. He is a foolish MP, Suhuyini is stupid. He hasn’t achieved anything in life so he wants to burn Ghana. I’m so disappointed in him. He uses everything for politics. The Privileges Committee is made up of human beings or they think being an MP is all I have, they think being an MP is the only thing I rely on. If they remove Parliament, I will continue to say the truth, no one can stop me”, he fumed.
