1992 Constitution Worst In Our History; Its Time To Fix It-Henry Kwasi Prempeh

Executive Director of The Ghana Center for Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana), Prof. Henry Kwasi Prempeh has criticized Ghana’s 1992 Constitution.

According to Mr. Premmpah the 1992 Constitution is the worst in Constitution in the history of Ghana haven compared it to the 1969 Constitution.

The CDD Ghana Executive Director strongly believes that the 1992 Constitution of Ghana is complete waste of Ghana’s resources.

In a social media post, Prof. Prempah bemoaned how the 1992 Constitution has empowered the legislators and made them to benefit more at the expense of ordinary Ghanaians.

He also said the MPs despite being empowered have failed to use the power they have to save Ghana from bad transactions and judgement debts hanging on the country’s neck.

He suggested that to save Ghana from its mess there is a need for some parts of the constitution that needs fixing to be fixed.

“The 1992 Constitution is also the most profligate, in the sense that it invites wasteful growth in the size of government and in public expenditures. No wonder it has both attracted and spawned a political class in its own image. It has lasted longer than all the rest only because We the People are tired of and reject coups and the disruption and retrogression they bring and entail.”

“The longevity of this constitution is not because there is something intrinsically superior or great about the constitution itself; there isn’t at all. But this should not mean we must continue to put up with whatever is served us in the name of the constitution”, he stated.
