The Editor-in-chief of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr has joined the number of Ghanaians applauding the First and Second Lady of the republic for refunding allowances paid to them.
Speaking on ”Peace FM’s Kokrokoo’ show, he noted that the monies which has been refunded will be of great help to the people of Ghana.
“Her Excellency Rebecca Akufo-Addo has helped us. She’s come out to say she doesn’t want the money and that we should take it back. We have done something. Haven’t we? I’ve heard that Madam Samira Bawumia (Excellency) also says she doesn’t want the money, so we should receive it back. We have taken our money back,” he stated.
Meanwhile both Rebecca Akufo-Addo and Samira Bawumia announced their decision to refund the allowances after it was heavily criticized by Ghanaians.
In a statement signed by Korkor Bleboo, it indicated that the First Lady arrived at the decision because of the public discussion on the emolument approved by Parliament has been laced with some extremely negative opinions, in some cases, which she finds distasteful, seeking to portray her as a venal, self-serving and self-centered woman, who does not care about the plight of the ordinary Ghanaian.
