The former Chief of Defence Staff, Brigadier Nunoo Mensah says the spate of armed robbery cases in the country is the cause of national insecurity.
In an interview on eTV Ghana’s Fact Sheet show he explained that his comment is based on analysis and observation he has made over a long time now since he has been around for decades.
He strongly believes that insecurity is rising gradually in the country and the cause of that is usually socio-economic.
Brigadier Nunoo Mensah went on to say that whenever matters of insecurity occurs he goes behind the scenes to find out how the country got there, adding that everybody knows that all is not well with Ghana’s security.
He stressed that people are gradually going into robbery because they are facing hard times in the country currently-something he says people do even if they not want to.
He added that if the economy gets back on its foot people will be busy working than robbing people.
