The former UN Senior Advisor, Baffour Agyemang-Duah disagrees with all those asking the First Lady to refund all allowances paid her by the state with interest.
Most of such people asking the wives of the President and Vice President to refund allowances with interest is the minority in Parliament who are of the view that the monies paid the First and Second Lady could have accrue some interests if it had been deposited in an interest bearing account.
Not only are they asking her to pay interest but they also want the Attorney-General to start with process of probing the First Lady’s account to find out if she has more money in her account to offset the allowance.
In an interview Professor Agyeman-Duah stated that calls by some individuals for the First and Second Lady to refund the allowances with interest is the most ridiculous thing to ask for.
He added that the move by the First and Second Lady to refund the allowances is the most honourable thing to do but the country can’t go extreme mile of desiring an interest.
