Go Beg Kaaka’s Family To Speak-Amaliba Tells Chair Of Ejura Committee

One of the members of the lawyers for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Abraham Amaliba has asked the 3-member committee’s chair probing the Ejura disturbance to beg the family of Kaaka to change its decision not to testify before the committee.

He noted that the family of Ibrahim Mohammed alias Kaaka might have been displease about issues surrounding the death of their son and so there is a need for the chair, Justice George Kingsley Koomson to reach out to the family to change their minds about not testify before the committee.

Mr. Amaliba stressed that he knows the chair of the committee is capable of convincing Kaaka’s family to rescind its decision.

He stated that the thing that is making the family lose trust isn’t completely lost and this is the time for the chair to allay those fears so the family can testify.

I have trust in the Chair to reach out to the family members and bring them back on board but as it stands now the family members are looking and watching the conduct of the committee and they are not satisfied.

He stated that there should have been an ex-military or police on the committee who has field experience who can verify some of the justifications the military gave for shooting of unarmed protestors in Ejura while critiquing the composition of the committee.

He made this comment while speaking to Berla Mundi on the New Day show.

Mr. Amaliba stated that per his affinity with the arm forces he knows the military is trained in two ways, to kill by kneeling to aim at the victim or to lie prostate to hoot and kill.

He added that it is a lie for anyone to say that the soldier who knelt before shooting the protestors didn’t fire out his gun instead the two who were shot in the disturbance were shot by guns of the protestors.
