Failing To Act On Short Report A Cause of Disturbances In Ghana-Nunoo Mensah

Brigadier General Nunoo-Mensah, a former Chief of Defense Staff of the Ghana Armed Forces has blamed the Ejura disturbance on the President’s failure to implement the Emile Short’s recommendation after it investigated the Ayawaso West Wuogon bye-election chaos.

The Nana Addo administration refused more than half the recommendation of the Emile Short after its investigation.

In an interview on 3FM hosted by Dzifa Bampoh on Thursday July 8th 2021, Brigadier Nunoo-Mensah said the findings of the Emile Short Commission should have been implemented to ward off the current cases that the country has been engulfed with.

He made this comment following the Ejura disturbance as well as a footage of some military men brutalizing locals of Wa.

Brigadier Nunoo-Mensah is of the view that the country never dealt with issues such as the current on that the country is seeing when it happened in the pass that is why it is re-occurring.

He made this comment when asked what could be the possible cause of current brutalities and chaos in the country.

”I think there was the Emile Short Commission few years ago which came up with a report but most of the recommendations were not taken up”.

He bemoaned the actions of the military in Wa stating that the military is trained to deal with external threat and not an internal one.
