Achimota School On Two-Week Lockdown

Both the Ghana Health Service and Ghana Education Service have come to a consensus for a lockdown to be imposed on Achimota Senior High School.

According to directives given by the school’s authorities no one leaves or enters the school premises.

This comes following the recent rise in Delta variant of Covid-19 among some of the students.

Between Monday June 14th and Wednesday June 16 some three students took ill, showed symptoms of influenza-like and were tested but unfortunately showed symptoms of the Delta variant of the Covid-19.

All 3 students were isolated following existing protocols. Other Symptomatic students and contacts were identified, listed and also tested for COVID-19. All contacts placed in mandatory quarantine on campus.

Director-General of the Ghana Health Service Dr. Patrick Kuma Aboagye at a press briefing said his outfit further sampled 843 students and staff, of which 348 are boarding students, 459 are day students, and 36 of them are teaching and non teaching staff on 3rd July.

Out of 550 samples that were received 135 tested positive.

The new development clearly shows that Day students of the school won’t be able to attend class.
