Former President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama has encouraged Ghanaians to allow themselves to be counted in the 2021 Population and Housing Census exercise.
After his interview with the Census Official, Mr. Mahama told the media that the census is necessary because it will help the government to know how to spread developmental projects across the country.
“It is necessary to know how many people live in your country accurately so you can make better provisions in terms of social amenities, in terms of how the economy is managed and in terms of how development is spread so that everybody gets a fair share of the national cake,” he said.
The former President also said that data derived from the census will help government in the creation of new districts as well as restructure local government system.
Mr. Mahama urged Ghanaians to receive census officials well and avail themselves to be counted.
