Time For New Presidential Jet-Defence Minister

The Minister of Defence, Mr Dominic Nitiwul, has said the time has come for Ghana to purchase a new and befitting presidential jet.

This is because the current Falcon 900 EX-Easy aircraft, used by the President, was not fit for purpose.

Mr Nitiwul said this in response to an urgent question by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament (MP) for North Tongu, Mr Okudzeto Ablakwa, on the floor of Parliament yesterday on whether the presidential jet was in good condition and considered air-worthy.

On Wednesday, 16th June 2021, Mr. Nituwul stated that the President used an aircraft worth £15,000 per hour because the current presidential jet do not have a large capacity to carry enough passengers, it also cannot travel on long distance because of refueling and the president can shower too on the plane.

He added that the President’s safety was considered before deciding on the kind of aircraft he should use.
