Ghana Not Getting Value From Presidential Trips-Dr. Lord Mensah

A Senior Lecturer with the University of Ghana Business School, Dr. Lord Mensah has said that the country has not had value from monies obtained from presidential trips over the years.

In an interview on the Morning Starr show on 17th June 2021, he said the huge number of people who accompany the president on trips as well as how the president has been decorated cost the country greatly.

“We are not getting value for money on the presidential travels especially when you look at the number of people the president travels with. If you take the Presidential travels that we’ve done over the years it comes at a cost because of how we’ve decorated our presidents,” he stated.

He also mentioned that its not the right time now for the country to consider acquiring a new presidential jet which goes contrary to Mr. Dominic Nitiwul’s request for a new presidential jet to be purchased.

“What happens in this country is that with every single decision that we’re taking, somebody has an interest. Every project that we’re going into is a deal for somebody…If you ask me, this is not the right time to buy a presidential jet especially when people are crying for the country to be fixed,” he told Francis Abban, host of Morning Starr show.
