#FixTheCountry Campaign Has Political Backing-Kufour Reveals

Former President of Ghana, John Agyekum Kufour has said in an interview that #fixthecountry campaign has some political underpinnings.

Not long ago some Ghanaian youths championed a movement on social media, asking the Nana Addo lead administration to fix the country.

They wanted to demonstrate on the street of Accra to aske the government to fix the country but they were stopped because of the presence of the deadly coronavirus.

Well reacting to the movement, John Kufour in an interview asked when the country was fixed which has made some youths to suddenly asked the government to fix it.

There is forgetfulness on the side of human beings. When have we been able to fix all the problems in the country that someone will rally behind that fact to call for the nation to be fixed? we are building”, he stated in an interview on Angel FM.

The former President noted that after independence a lot of learning on use of resources wasn’t done.

The unemployment, social mobility issues and other leadership challenge have come up in this country because we rushed. There is the need for us to have a vision of rising from slumber. But if we don’t plan well, and do things like it was done in the past, that’s the cause of the problems we are having now.

”So if someone comes to say fix it like there’s some magic wand used in fixing the country, then I will say that’s party politics. We need to take our time and also plan. While I’m say this, I’m not suggesting that if something is going wrong and you don’t have an understanding you don’t ask. However, do ask in such a way that it seems you are forcing the government. If that is done and no planning goes into whatever they do, we will back to stage one”, he told Kofi Adoma.
