The member of Parliament for Ofoase-Ayirebi Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has urged all Ghanaians to cut down their expectations of the government as far as job creation and developmental projects this year since the Electronic Levy is yet to be passed.
He made this assertion during a 3-day Cabinet meeting at Peduase Lodge as part of government’s quest to find solutions for the struggling Ghanaian economy which the government has blamed the COvid-19 and Russian-Ukraine war to be the reason.
Kojo Oppong who was speaking in an interview on Okay FM said the Nana Addo administration has approved a number of measures to solve the current struggles in the country but the E-Levy remains a key factor in government’s revenue mobilization.
”We are still counting on the cushioning of the GHS7 billion to be realized annually if the e-levy is passed, but until then, I think those who are expectant in finding jobs and developmental projects in their communities should limit their expectations for the time being”.
”The President has ordered for a review of the flagship programs to find ways to costs and waste; but that is not to say that those which provides relief to Ghanaians would be scrapped. In fact the measures would make those policies better”.
