Famous Ghanaian singer Kwabena Kwabena has reacted to the ongoing debate regarding government abolishing road tolls and introducing E-Levy.
Kwabena Kwabena who was speaking to Nana Romeo on Accra-base Accra FM stated that the abolishment of road tolls saddens him.
Mr. Ken Ofori-Atta reading the 2022 budget on Wednesday 17th November mentioned that all toll booths on major roads in Ghana be shut down after Parliament approves it.
Expressing how sad he is, he said major roads like Tema Motorway shouldn’t be in bad shape like it is after many years of road toll collection.
“ I’m sad; the reason is that my question is that, especially with the Tema motorway. After collecting tolls over the years, what else has the money collected on that stretch been used for? Because that stretch generates that fund.
He further questioned what all the monies collected on the Tema Motorway stretch over the years has been used for.
Meanwhile on Thursday when the directive to abolish road toll collection was effected many hawkers who hawk in the traffic that comes as a result of the toll lamented on inability to sell their goods because of the directive.
