A former Ghana’s ambassador to South Africa, Dr. George Ayisi Boateng has said that it will do the New Patriotic Party a lot of good if the Vice President of Ghana, Dr. Bawumia is used for the ‘breaking the eight’ agenda.
According to him although the party has the men and women to contest for the flagbearer race there is a need for compromise, consensus building and reasonability since the situation where the party finds itself in demands critical thinking.
”I can contest, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu can also contest. Like President Kuffour said we have the men and the women but compromise, consensus building, reasonability. The situation we find ourselves in calls for reasonable critical thinking and serious consultation and compromise”.
He went on to say that in 2008 when the President Nana Addo selected Dr. Bawumia he didn’t know him but the President knew the good in him and since then he has never disappointed.
Dr. Ayisi noted that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s hard work record are so glaring and his display of intelligence at the Supreme Court during the 2012 election petition hearing says it all.
”My support does not create any problem. We are a democratic party and every member has a choice and a voice. This is my choice and I stand by it. I’m not imposing my wish and will on anybody, that is my candid opinion. If we all agree and see that it will help us as a party”, he said on Kumasi-based Angel FM.
