Member of Parliament for Juaboso, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh has said that travelers who doubt their covid-19 status after testing at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) should be allowed to have a second opinion.
He made this comment while speaking at a press conference in Parliament on Friday July, 30 2021.
Mr. Akandoh stated emphatically that a lot of travelers who are going through covid-19 testing at Ghana’s International Airport are doubting their status.
He disclosed that there are videos backing this claim but that doesn’t mean that they the minority in Parliament will ask government to stop the testing at various entry points of the country.
He stressed that the testing being conducted at the various points is one of the major ways to fight the spread of the virus.
“That notwithstanding, in order to bring this matter to a closure, in order to stop this cry we will recommend to government, the Minister responsible for heath and the minister responsible for transport, as a matter of urgency that must pity their heads together and come out with measure that will afford those who are doubting their Covid status an independent opinion on their status .
He added that it is unacceptable when government tries to use security agencies to intimidate travelers doubting their status and speaking their minds.
