TV and radio presenter Rylan Clark has revealed his mother’s recent health woes as he explained she was taken into hospital for surgery following a bad fall on holiday. The star, revealed his mother Linda, who has appeared alongside her son on Gogglebox, has had to undergo emergency surgery.
Rylan and his mum, who turned 71 in July, were on holiday together, which was Linda’s first holiday in a good few years, when the accident happened.
Rylan revealed the ordeal in a post on his Instagram and Twitter pages. He shared a statement which read: “So unfortunately I took my mum away on her first holiday in a good few years and sadly she’s had quite a bad fall, resulting in her having to have surgery out there.
“She’s not in the best health with her other conditions and this has made it more complicated. My priority at the moment is my mum.
“Cheers to scott for covering me at radio 2 and Thanks to the people out there that have sent their well wishes,” [sic] he penned. “Praying for a successful surgery and a quick recovery. Will update you on mummy Linda as and when I can.”
Rylan’s post was soon met with well wishes from celebrity friends and fans as McFly star Tom Fletcher wrote: “Hope she’s ok mate. Loads of love. X”. Ella Henderson added: “Sending all my love and well wishes!! Xxxx I’ll call you later” followed by a string of heart emojis. While comedian Josh Widdicombe sent a trio of heart emojis in the comments. And Loose Women’s Ruth Langsford wrote: “Oh no….darling Linda. Sending you both all our love”.
The X Factor star’s mum has faced a string of health battles over the years. She was previously diagnosed with Crohn’s disease at the age of 30, which is a chronic inflammation of the intestines and underwent three major operations.
Rylan and Linda took a year off of filming for Celebrity Gogglebox in 2021 as she underwent treatment for Crohn’s disease. Following the operations, Linda previously told the Mirror she has just 70cm of her bowel left – where a person usually has 2m – and she was also fitted with a stoma bag. The TV star’s son also installed TV monitors around her home to keep a constant watch on her.
