Nollywood actor Yul Edochie is under fire again, not for family drama this time but for publicly supporting Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
This comes after he posted a photo of himself in traditional white attire with the president’s face. The bold inscription beneath President Tinubu’s picture read, “Relax, Jagaban will fix Nigeria.”
Furthermore, he labelled himself a ‘Asiwaju boy’ in his caption, expressing his unwavering support for the president. Yul stated that he admires the president and prays for his success on a regular basis.
The caption read, “ASIWAJU BOY.100%. UNAPOLOGETICALLY. I LOVE TINUBU. I BELIEVE IN HIM. AND I’M PRAYING FOR HIM TO SUCCEED.”
Yul’s post was met with criticism from his followers and supporters, who attacked him in the comments section. Some accused him of lying about his support for the president in order to get a raise, while others accused him of being biassed.
One week ago, Yul shared a post on his Instagram page advising the Nigerian president. He wrote:
“As a leader you will see certain things that your people may never see.
You will have access to certain information that your people may never have access to.
So some of your decisions may not be fully understood by the people, even though they’re in the best interest of the people.
You have my support Sir.
I know you’re a man of wisdom.
May God guide you in all the decisions you take for Nigeria.
Best Wishes, Mr. President.
