Reverend Anthony Kwadwo Boakye, the leader and founder of the Resurrection Power New Generation Church, was put to rest on Saturday, August 5, 2023. President Akufo-Addo and other dignitaries were present to grieve with the Reverend’s family and church members. Many people praised the family and church for providing him with a dignified burial.
Many well-wishers, sympathisers, and family members of the late priest attended to commemorate his life, with huge lines extending beyond the locations utilised for the three-day commemoration.
In a recent video circulating on social media, one ‘Kofi Owusu, who happens to be the nephew of the late Rev. Boakye, has been appointed by the family to succeed his uncle and be in charge of all his assertions, including his church.
This information was relayed to the members of the church during service last Sunday. The successor (Kofi Owusu) promised to deliver on their expectations just like his uncle did.
Before the renowned Ghanaian preacher died, it was claimed that the founder and his wife, Rev Mrs Margaret Boakye, had a falling out. Following his death, the wife was barred from attending the one-week celebration and, later, from attending the funeral.
She, on the other hand, was not about to give up without a struggle. Mrs. Boakye obtained two injunctions to prevent the burial. She wanted the burial and final funeral ceremonies to be stopped due to a disagreement with the deceased’s family members.
