New Juaben South MP, Michael Okyere Baafi has informed his constituent that the NDC MPs in Parliament are encouraging they the majority in Parliament in private to pass the e-levy.
The member of Parliament noted that the public opposition of the E-Levy by the minority in Parliament is just a way to score political points from their loyal supporters who are not in support of the e-levy.
”The NDC MPs are supporting us in private and they want us to tell you people so that support it. They say they cannot tell the masses to support it publicly but we are in Parliament with them. We are a few in Parliament so we are all friends. So please let’s embrace the e-levy so that it can help all of us”.
”Let’s accept the e-levy. One thing we did not say and I want to hammer on is the fact that if the e-levy is not accepted and we go to the IMF for money, they will tell us to cancel Free SHS. When it is canceled your children who have completed their basic education and are ready for their secondary education cannot go to school for free”, he stated.
