The former President of Ghana John Mahama doesn’t seem to understand the current state of the country and has questioned the President of Ghana Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo on how quickly the country’s situation has sky rocketed to worse even though he and his government promised the country of better standard of living.
Speaking at Kempinski hotel on Wednesday at a lecture held to round up his Thank You Tour in the Greater Accra Region he said the government of the day is using PR, sloganeering, divisive rhetoric, and plain political deception to hide the challenges that the country is faced with.
The daily struggle of Ghanaians to make ends meet would be impossible to recount in one address. The question we ask, however, is how have things moved from bad to worse so quickly when we were promised a much better and more affordable standard of living?” portions of the former President’s statement read.
The public lecture held by the former President hammered on economic sustainability and social issues like unemployment.
A part of his statement read; “The tragedy of our current national situation is that we have a government that appears completely unwilling to acknowledge the problems and even begin the process of addressing them. We are instead confronted with an administration that believes that these major problems can be wished away through PR, sloganeering, divisive rhetoric, populism, and plain political deception.
