The Vice President of Ghana Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has announced that the Ghana card will soon be recognized globally as an e-passport.
He noted that 179 countries will recognize Ghana card as e-passport starting from the first quarter of 2022.
The Vice President noted that this feature of the Ghana card will make traveling convenient for Ghanaians in the diaspora while speaking on transforming Ghana’s economy through digitization in Accra.
“When this is done, Ghanaians in the diaspora would not need a visa to return to Ghana”, he stated.
The Vice President reiterated that the Ghana card is an e-passport to authenticate the identity of travelers”.
Speaking on the uniqueness of the Ghana card he stated that the identity of people even deceased can be established by fingerprint.
