Juaben MP Beaten To Pulp As Youth Chase Ashanti Regional Minister Out of Town

MP for the Atwima Nwabiagya South constituency, Mr. Emmanuel Agyei Anhwere has reportedly been beaten by some angry youth in the area who are protesting against the rejection of Alexander Sarfo Kantanka, the Municipal Chief Executive nominee for Juaben Municipality.

After 26 assembly members voted today, Monday, the MCE nominee secured only 10 votes out of a total of 26 assembly members who affirmed his nomination making him face rejection a second time.

Some youth present who believed the presence of some government officials had influence who the assembly members should vote for then got angry.

Out of the disturbance the MP, hon. Emmanuel Agyei Anhwere was whisked away wand was been protected by the police at the Juaben Police Station.

The Ashanti Regional Minister Simon Osei Mensah was also pursued and chased out of the town by the angry youth.

President Nana Addo revoked the appointment of some four persons who were already serving as government appointees in the Juabeng Municipal Assembly.

This new directive came ahead of the voting process to confirm the MCE nominee Alexander Sarfo-Kantanka after he was rejected a first time but unfortunately he has been out rightly been rejected again.
