I Can’t Conduct Investigations From Jubilee House-Akufo-Addo Speaks On Corruption

President Nana Akufo-Addo has made clear his position in digging up corrupt activities in his government.

The President has said that investigations into corrupt allegations concerning his government officials and public institutions are not conducted by him but by appropriate State authorities and he only act upon their reports.

“I cannot conduct investigations from Jubilee House. The ones who can conduct investigations are the institutions on the ground, whether it is the Police, the CID, in some cases the Parliament and those investigative power; the EOCO. These are the institutions that carry out these investigations and then produce a report and it is on the basis of the report that I act,” he said to Chairman General Kwame Sefa Kayi.

He made this comment while responding to a question asked about constant accusation from his opponent that he has become a clearing agent for consistently acquitting his officials who have scandals surrounding them.

The President went on to say “allegations without substance shouldn’t be used to stigmatize people”. while cautioning against unsubstantiated allegations leveled against people.
