Celebrated Investigative Journalist Manasseh Azure Awuni has spoken up for Ghanaian youth being asked by the Finance Minister to venture into entrepreneurship instead of seeking government jobs.
He spoke up for Ghanaian youth after Ken Ofori-Atta in his address to UPSA graduating student told the students to desist from seeking government jobs because the government pay roll is full.
Advising the youth to go into entrepreneurship he said government has created an enabling environment for the youth so that entrepreneurship will come with ease.
Manasseh Azure speaking on behalf of youth in Ghana stated that in Ghana just few people control the all the contracts in all the sectors therefore going into business will yield no profit for the ordinary youth.
”They say go into business. But only a few family and friends control all the contracts in all the sectors. No meritocracy”.
”The rich politically-aligned Ghanaians and foreigners easily get tax waivers. It’s not that easy for the Ghanaian start-up”, he noted.
He added that all the multiple government sanitation contracts in all the 260 assemblies in the country has been awarded to one person in Accra.
