Nana Addo’s Plans Of Building An Airport In Central Region Appropriate

A former Central Regional Chairman of the NDC Bernard Allotey Jacobs has waded into the conversation of whether the Central region would prefer to have an airport or fishing habour at the coastal side of it.

Allotey believes building an airport is far better for the region now than the habour because the Accra-Cape Coast road is in a bad state making it a death trap and a reason for an airport to be needed in the region.

He made this comment after the President on his tour in the region emphasized his plans of building an airport in the region.

Speaking on plans of building the airport, President Nana Addo told the Oguaa Traditional Council, Osabarimba Kwesi Atta II that feasibility studies on the project is near completion and work will commence soon.

It became debatable that a region which is located at the coastal belt and also and agricultural region as the Central Region would need a habour instead of airport.

Allotey Jacobs supporting the idea of the airport while speaking with Alfred Occansey on 3FM’s Sunrise show stated that the people would prefer the airport to habour because Cape-Coast to Accra road is in shambles.

“There are a lot of accidents on the road and being a tourist destination, what Cape Coast needs is an airport and I am happy it is closer to my farms. It has been demarcated”.

“Even the fishermen will prefer an airport. Where are you going to construct the fishing harbor? Cape Coast will prefer an airport that will promote tourism in the Region”, he added.
