The University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) has canceled its intended strike action which was scheduled for Friday, 8th October 2021.
This comes after the government of Ghana reached an agreement with UTAG.
Prior to the announcement of their strike action UTAG had a meeting with government on 26th September to discuss its salary and welfare packages.
But at the meeting government made UTAG aware that it could not go beyond the Cedi equivalent of $1200, an amount that was rejected by UTAG.
The spokesperson of the Education Ministry Kwasi Kwarteng announcing the cancelation of the strike said; Government of Ghana/MoE has reached an agreement with UTAG. Consequently the intended strike action will not come off”, he wrote.
But the details of the agreement was known.
