Parts Of Accra To Experience Power Disruption For Two Months

Some parts of the Greater Accra region beginning from 5th October 2021 will experience power outages for two months.

The news on the power outage was sighted in a letter written by the Grid Company Limited (GRIDCO) to the Electricity Company of Ghana.

GRIDCo says the move is to this enable its team execute “planned works” of replacing existing lines with new higher capacity-conductor within the Achimota – Mallam corridors.

According to GRIDCo this is necessary to be executed because transfer of much load to Pokuase, Achimota, Accra East and Tema need to be done in a bid to cut down to loading at Mallam and Accra Central substations.”

The areas to be affected have been categorised into A, B, C groups.

Areas under group A are; Adabraka Old Timers, Mamprobi, Chorkor, Ageege, Lartebiokorshie, Valco Trust, Teachers Hall etc.

Areas under Group B are: Apolio theatre, Asylum Down, Adabraka Market, Korle Gonno, Sukura, Mamprobi Poly Clinic, James Town, Mataheko, etc.

Areas under Group C include; Central Police Station, Cocobod, Kingsway, Abossey Okai, Chorkor, Appiah Danquah, Graphic Press House, SSNIT.
