The former Deputy Deputy General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Koku Anyidoho is strongly against calls by some party members that the 2020 Presidential candidate of the party should be allowed to go unopposed.
Reacting to calls by some top members of the party that John Mahama should be made the party’s flagbearer for 2024 election because there is no other candidate popular as Mahama, Koku Anyidoho noted that he support the idea of election being held to elect a flagbearer.
He made this comment while speaking on Okay FM.
”I have heard the leadership of the NDC say that the thing will be open for a contest and that has been my position. Some of the reasons why people say I’m a traitor is because I’ve insisted consistently for years. Kwame in the past we used to impose, we will impose Parliamentary candidates, we will impose regional executives, we will impose flagbearer until we lost the 2000 election”.
”When we went round the whole country, the party decided that we won’t impose candidates and that we will engage in the election. So when we started we have been electing people so as a true and a loyal member of the NDC when you ask me, I will go in for the contest,” he stated.
