Member of Parliament for Awutu Seya East, Mavis Hawa Koomson has accepted the fact that she is unable to speak big vocabulary because of her background.
Recall that not long ago during the vetting of Ministers nominated by the President of Ghana, the MP couldn’t express herself well and was unable to share thoughts on the ministry she had been nominated to lead.
This made many Ghanaians to subject her to mockery and ask questions on what she will actually do for the ministry if she is given the nod.
Madam Hawa Koomson reacting to her English speaking ability has said that she can express herself well but is unable to speak big vocabulary.
Speaking in an interview on Good Evening Ghana show aired on 16th September she noted that she is unable to speak big English because of her upbringing and level of teaching experience.
”And maybe it is because of my background and as I said, If I have been able to teach for over 20 years in the system, what language did I use? But I taught in the public school and I also taught the small ones”.
”With the GES, we believe that you need to communicate and communicate well to the child’s understanding and so we don’t use big words and that’s why I don’t use big words”.
But sentences that I can also use to defend myself as we are doing (I am speaking English even though once in a while I use twi..but then I don’t know why the people keep saying ….yes, I don’t speak bg English, my kind of brofo is what I speak”, Hawa Koomson said on the Good Evening Ghana show.
