The Chairman of the Economic Community of West African State, (ECOWAS) Nana Akufo-Addo has condemned the coup d’tate which occurred in Guinea on Sunday, 5th September 2021.
The chairman of ECOWAS who doubles as President of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo has called for an immediate return of order in the country.
Following the coup, President of Guinea Alpha Conde was arrested and his government disssolved with immediate effect.
According to Nana Addo, the coup which he describes as ‘unconstitutional political change’ cannot fester in a democratic country as Guinea.
In a statement signed by Nana Addo, he noted that ECOWAS demands the physical safety of the President, Professor Alpha Conde and his immediate and unconditional release as well as that of all arrested persons.
