I always dreamed of playing in English football. Over the last 8 years I’ve been living this dream in the best way imaginable: achieving and accomplishing a great deal whilst learning so much at the same time.
On a personal level it was a magical time for me and my family. We immersed ourselves in English culture and came to love London and England. I became a British citizen.
It was a tremendous honour to play 8 seasons in the Premier League, becoming the Brazilian player with the most appearances in the history of the competition in the process. During this time I also experienced the joy of playing in the main European competitions.
I would like to thank the clubs that opened their doors to me during my time here with a special thanks to all the friends who made me and my family feel so uniquely welcome.
See you soon!”
