Some suspects are in the grips of the police in the Ashanti region for allegedly stealing railway line tracks after Konongo, Juaso, Kumasi, Ejusu, and Nkwakwaw.
According to the police some of the suspects arrested have been sentenced while others face trial.
Deputy Minister responsible for the railways, Kwaku Asante Boateng is asking Ghanaians to help government to protect the railway lines in the country.
Reports reaching us indicates that regardless of government’s effort to revive the railway sector some Ghanaians have taken it upon themselves to remove the railway metals, sell it at cheaper price which is then melted at Tema.
Government’s bid to make the railway sector stand on its foot brought into action some vigilance police in Ejusu, Juaso, Obuase and Konongo, where they arrested some suspects.
Meanwhile the Ministry of Railways Development have said that the continuous stealing of Railway lines causing the country a great lose.
