The former Member of Parliament for Amenfi Central Mr. George Kofi Arthur is of the opinion that the best pastor in Ghana cannot be equated to even the worse member of Parliament in the country.
He opines that members of Parliament have dedicated their time and effort to do God’s work better than pastors in the country and need to be appreciated for that.
Mr. Kofi speaking on Okay FM noted that the worse MP is equal to the best pastor in the country.
Speaking to Afia Pokua he noted that other political actors and civil servants like Council of State, Judiciary, Executive, DCEs, local government and many others, the government gives them cars, houses, maid servants, garden boys but nothing of that sort is given to MPs.
He noted that Parliamentarians do not enjoy so much benefit like other political actors yet Ghanaians always want to take a dig at MPs at every least opportunity.
”When you mention a politician in Ghana, they equate it to members of Parliament. They leave out ministers and the others. Look how much does the CEO of SSNIT take, how much does CEO of COCOBOD take? so why will the people of Ghana have problems with the MP whose salary is GHS20,000 when the CEO of SSNIT takes home close to GHS100,000 a month? he quizzed.
